SSP recreates the dining experience in the grab and go space

QSR Media spoke to Mark Angela, chief commercial officer for SSP, to discuss the roll out of Plane Food To Go in airports worldwide.

Plane Food To Go is a revolutionary concept that will roll out worldwide and build upon the massive success of the original Plane Food dining experience from London Heathrow’s Terminal 5. Gordon Ramsay pioneered the idea of quality take-on-board meals with his Plane Food picnics eight years ago, driven by ideas about creating high quality, healthy food to take on the plane in easy to eat formats.

QSR Media: How many airports have SSP earmarked?

Here at SSP we are delighted to have a great brand portfolio and we will be considering options to expand the brand to global locations.

QSR Media: What dishes are expected to be seen at these locations?

As it’s still very early days, we can’t say much about the dishes available but you can expect to see items inspired by some of Gordon Ramsay’s iconic dishes. Our customers will have a unique opportunity to experience stand out dishes, all given the Gordon Ramsay Plane Food To Go twist as the team re-create them specifically for the grab and go market.

QSR Media: How will this offer differ from your other grab and go offerings at airports?

In any travel location, it’s essential to have an offer that perfectly meets the needs of the passengers at that location. This offer, which is a premium take on grab and go, is the perfect choice for those looking for something a little bit special to carry on a flight.

QSR Media: Any plans to extend the offering beyond airports to other travel hubs?

Our focus for the brand is to bring something new and innovative specifically to airport travellers.
