High street chains urge Chancellor to curb rising business rates

Brands such as Pizza Express, and Greene King asked Chancellor Philip Hammond to curb the rising business rates.

The companies have penned a letter to Hammond urging him to reconsider a proposed plan that could see a 42 per cent rise in rates for some businesses. In the letter, the brands said that companies in the hospitality sector are ‘not prepared for the significant rises resulting from latest revaluation’.
