Costa Coffee trials reusable antibacterial coffee cup lids

Branches nationwide are due to stock them by 2021.

In a bid to minimise waste and promote hygiene, Costa Coffee is launching new antibacterial reusable cup lids made of Polypropylene, a thermoplastic polymer with an anti-bacterial coating.

The dishwasher-safe lids cost £1 each and come in red or white with their own drawstring pouches and fit all of Costa’s takeaway cups.

The first lids of its kind have already been sold as part of a trial in 500 participating stores, with branches nationwide due to stock them in 2021.

Costa says more than 1,200 of these lids were sold within the first week they were made available.
