The owner of the Wok & Go and Dough Dough brands is urging fellow hospitality businesses to join him in establishing dark or ghost kitchens to drive food sales.
“By utilizing the ghost kitchen concept and spicing up their offering with separate menus, an already established restaurant can tap into different styles and cuisines, reaching new customers and encouraging existing customers to order more frequently,” Des Pheby, owner of Pheby Food Concepts Group Ltd. in Chester, said.
A dark or ghost kitchen is a delivery-only restaurant, meaning food is prepared and then collected or delivered for the customer to enjoy away from the premises.
Pheby argued the delivery-only model is a great opportunity “to make the most of an increased appetite for food delivery services, allowing kitchens to maximize profit during quiet times, and keeping staff in the workplace for longer periods.”
Founded in 2008, Pheby Food Concepts Group Ltd consists of the Wok & Go and Dough Dough brands, along with four dark kitchen concepts. It has signed a deal to bring Crepe Delicious to the UK.
