Traditional grocery spend, meanwhile, decreased.
“Picking up a few things for dinner” is now being redefined, according to a new study.
According to a recent whitepaper by Cardlytics, online grocery delivery is growing at an “incredible” pace – having consistent year-over-year growth over last year (between 75% up to 100%). Despite only 4.6% of consumers use delivery services and meal kits, it is reportedly already impacting in-store sales.
Online grocery delivery is also seen to have consistent customer acquisition growth. “Additionally, the spend growth numbers in online grocery delivery are higher than customer acquisition growth numbers, which suggests an increase in spend per shopper,” the report states.
Traditional grocery spending, meanwhile, decreased by nearly 3% at the start of the fall season last 2017, and was accompanied with a drop of unique spenders.
