Burger King's Major European Moves
Burger King has announced plans to aggressively expand its presence in Southern and Eastern Europe.
Burger King SSE S.A has been established as joint venture partner to drive the expansion in Italy, Poland, Greece and Romania.
Although the brand already has a presence in Italy, Poland and Romania, the move will see aggressive restaurant openings across the region, with 10,000 jobs expected to be created in the first five to seven years.
Speaking of the announcement, Burger King SSE CEO said "Our development plans... are ambitious. The BURGER KING brand... is perfectly poised to build on its current strength in these markets and rapidly expand its presence".
The announcement will come as good news to the governments in the affected countries, as Europe continues to struggle with low growth and high unemployment.
