McDonald's Portugal says sorry for 'Sundae Bloody Sundae' ads
The chain says the promotion was not intended to be ‘insensitive reference’ to historical events.
McDonald’s in Portugal has apologised for using the slogan “Sundae Bloody Sundae” in a Halloween campaign.
The chain’s campaign saw a two-for-one offer on the strawberry dessert and a nod to the early U2 song Sunday Bloody Sunday.
The campaign has since been pulled, following online backlash, with the fast food giant saying that it was not intended as “an insensitive reference” to the Bloody Sunday incident in 1972.
