McDonald's officially extends breakfast hours, removes plastic McFlurry lids

The chain’s breakfast hours are now until 11am across all locations.

After trialling it in 122 locations, McDonald’s has officially extended its breakfast hours.

Started last 20 November, all UK locations have been serving breakfast until 11am.

McDonald’s also announced its plan to remove McFlurry plastic lids in all its European stores. It will also trial the new McFlurry fibre-based lids in France, as well as trial the redesigned paper straw and toy-take back programs, in part of its global “Better M” platform aimed towards sustainable packaging.

“The trials we are conducting across Europe are vital in helping us get first-hand feedback from customers on solutions that help them to be conscious consumers, without compromising on quality and the McDonald’s experience they love,” McDonald’s Global Sustainability vice president Keith Kenny said in a statement.

According to the fast food giant, around 78% of its packaging globally is made from fibre. It also claimed that more than 1,200 tonnes of plastic per year will be saved by reducing plastic lid usage.
