Emerging restaurant brands grew 3.8% in the last half-year: analyst

Fast food models featuring desserts and coffee is said to drive future growth.

The fastest growing emerging restaurant brands have grown by 3.8% in the last six months after three years of decline, according to a fresh report from Peter Backman.

In his latest Ones To Watch report, which featured 134 brands, revealed that Crosstown Doughnuts is the highest ranked brand in terms of the rate of growth of store openings over the last three years.

Canadian coffee chain Tim Hortons was the brand that opened the most new stores.

“These brands reflect a common theme of the list, which is the growing popularity of small-footprint, fast food models featuring desserts and coffee. And, this segment is likely to fuel future growth,” Peter Backman said in his latest bulletin.
