Whilst rising costs, intense competition and Brexit are creating challenges for operators in the out-of-home eating and drinking sector, consumer trends such as premiumisation, healthier eating and drinking are offering opportunities for growth.
According to a series of market reports produced in collaboration between UK Hospitality, CGA and partners, nearly two thirds of eating and drinking out consumers are trying to lead a healthy lifestyle and premiumisation is estimated to grow by £3 billion annually.
Pop-ups and festivals are also emerging, referred by the research bodies as the omnichannel and ‘third space’.
