Bleecker Burger to donate all profits to homelessness charities on March
The burger brand will donate to two charities this year.
Burger brand Bleecker Burger will donate all profits from its four London restaurants and three delivery kitchens on 1 March to homelessness charities, The Outside Project and Stonewall Housing.
Bleecker’s four restaurants, in Spitalfields, Victoria, Bloomberg Arcade and Westfield London, and three delivery kitchens in Battersea, Bermondsey and Maida Vale, are all participating.
It will be the seventh year running that Bleecker has supported charities in this way, on what would have been the birthday of founder Zan Kaufman’s late brother Mark, who died in 2017.
“My brother Mark worked his entire life in hospitality. From being a room-service runner to managing restaurants, it was what he liked to do and where he fitted in. He spent a summer at Bleecker too. Mark was charming and funny and had a talent for commanding the attention of a room. But he suffered badly with his mental health, and this led to addiction and periods of homelessness. In April 2017, he overdosed and passed away at 35 years of age,” Kaufman explained.
“To commemorate Mark’s birthday, we donate all our profits to charities connected with his experiences. This year, we are supporting The Outside Project and Stonewall Housing, two incredible charities which support LGBTQ+ people with homelessness, mental health and domestic violence.”
Previous years' profits from this day have funded Mental Health First Aid training for over 100 individuals, including employees at Bleecker, KERB, Fallow, Elliots, PuttShack and more. To date, the initiative has seen over £50k donated to charity in Mark Kaufman’s memory.
