Executives to hold talks with Gove to raise recycling scheme concerns: report

The scheme is aimed at cutting the 3 billion plastic drinks bottles incinerated, sent to landfill or left to litter.

Bosses from Greggs, Burger King and Starbucks will discuss the deposit return scheme with Michael Gove, Sky News reports.

The meeting comes amid growing concern that a series of recycling initiatives will impose unsustainable costs.

In an earlier speech, Gove said he favoured an "all-in model" that would include glass bottles to "give consumers the greatest possible incentive to recycle".

At the meeting, industry players are also expected to offer support for more comprehensive plans to protect the environment.
