Just Eat, MasterChef host Gregg Wallace team up for healthy eating pilot
Insights from the scheme will be used to create a programme to offer support for independents.
Just Eat announced a three-month healthy eating pilot scheme for restaurants, done in partnership with MasterChef host Gregg Wallace and nutritionist Charlotte Radcliffe.
Insights from the scheme will be used to create a programme to offer support to the thousands of independent restaurant partners.
Both Wallace and Radcliffe visited 10 restaurants in Birmingham to discuss aspects including adding healthier items to their menus to more effectively marketing the healthiest dishes to customers. As part of the project, each restaurant will now trial tailored changes to their menus.
The participating restaurants also benefited from a free trial of Nutritics, a tool that calculates the nutritional value of menu items, for the duration of the pilot.
Pilot participants include Rubery Fish Bar, Food Republic, Caspian Pizza, Sophie’s Pizza and Pasta, Slice of New York, Shazan'z Kebab House, Rumana’s, Big John’s, Mahfil Restaurant, and Chop & Wok.
“Consumers are increasingly looking to enjoy takeaways as part of a healthy balanced diet - but research we carried out earlier this year showed that less than a third think they can do so currently," said Andrew Kenny, UK Managing Director at Just Eat.
