KFC and FareShare partners with Big Zuu for community campaign
The campaign aims to help those facing food insecurity.
Fast-food giant KFC and food redistribution charity FareShare have teamed up with self-taught chef and TV personality Big Zuu to crowdsource the nation’s favourite chicken recipes to inspire community kitchen chefs with new ways of cooking up KFC chicken for people going hungry this summer.
The campaign aims to help those facing food insecurity by bringing together the nation’s favourite feel-good chicken recipes and chicken provided by KFC.
The campaign forms part of KFC’s ongoing support of FareShare since partnering in 2022, and by 2024 after a full year, KFC aims to have redistributed the equivalent of 12 million meals.
10 winning recipes from the public will be dished up by Big Zuu and rolled out to community kitchens across the UK, using fried chicken provided by KFC.
The campaign follows new data from the ONS, showing that cases of food poverty are on the rise, with 1 in 20 (5%) adults saying they have run out of food and been unable to afford more, between February and May this year, due to the rising cost of living.
“It shouldn’t matter who you are, where you come from, or what you’re going through – everyone deserves access to food. It isn’t only about sustenance; it brings people together. But right now, too many people are missing out on the joy of a good meal because of circumstances beyond their control. It’s not right and that’s what this campaign wants to change. So, British public, I need you! You donate the recipes, KFC will provide the chicken, and together we’ll dish up some delicious meals to people who need it most,” Big Zuu said.
The competition will close on 3 September.
Winners will be notified via direct message from the @KFC_UKI handle on social media and invited to cook up their recipes with Big Zuu in a local community kitchen
