Just Eat launches business mentoring initiative for independent restaurants

The company will team up with entrepreneur Sarah Willingham for the programme.

Aiming to drive sustained growth among the UK’s independent restaurants and provide support to local businesses, online food delivery company Just Eat announced the launch its Business Booster initiative.

Partnering with restaurant investor Sarah Willingham, they will provide one-on-one business mentoring for restaurant owners who are facing various business challenges such as pricing and profit margin concerns.

New research ciited by Just Eat that was carried out among independent restaurant owners says that three in five (59%) believe they will grow their business in the next five years, despite the current climate in the casual dining sector. The UK economy, according to the company, stands to gain £1.1 billion and create 55,000 jobs in the takeaway sector if growth comes to fruition.

Despite the optimism, more than a third of independent restaurant owners (65%) express concern about maintaining current profitability levels, and 63% say they would value advice on growing their business.

“If we can help them at a local level, to improve profitability and efficiencies, the combined impact on the economy could be huge. Restaurant partners are the beating heart of our business, which is why we are so pleased to be launching our Business Booster initiative to support them in running even more successful businesses,” Just Eat UK Managing Director Graham Corfield said.

“When you run a small business so much time is spent on the day to day management, making it hard to focus on growth. But there are many opportunities for independent food outlets; from making the most of the rise of marketplaces like Just Eat to the simple tricks that will help them to find efficiencies or be a bit more commercially-savvy,” Willingham added.

Restaurants can apply online by visiting the Business Booster landing page.
