Domino's Pizza Group plc announced its half yearly results earlier this week, and they show just how important technology has become in the QSR space.
The group, who have long recognised the imporance of this sales channel, have seen their efforts in the internet and app space pay off, with online system sales increasing a whopping 30.6% over the period. They now comprise 69.7% of UK delivered sales.
However, the story doesn't end there, as customers are increasingly relying on their mobile phones and tablets to process their orders, with 38.3% of these online orders coming through these smart devices.
Although Domino's approach to these new technologies is among the industry's best, it is also clear that online ordering via websites or mobile apps is being rapidly adopted by customers, and that other industry participants will have to sieze the initiative in this space to drive sales in the future.
