Gourmet Goat opens new store inside Borough Market
The brand opened a new fixed indoor unit on Rochester Walk, serving East Mediterranean dishes of kid goat sourced exclusively from British dairy farms.
Gourmet Goat's unique kid goat streetfood dishes are inspired by much-loved recipes from co-founder Nadia Stoke’s East Mediterranean heritage, and are intended to support the UK dairy industry by promoting the deeply flavourful healthy meat of billies.
Visitors to the new store inside Borough Market can order streetfood dishes including tender slow roast kid goat shoulder and leg cooked with white wine, oregano, bay, thyme, garlic, lemon zest and extra virgin olive oil; and their equally popular grilled kid goat meat kofta. Both dishes come served with a choice of either authentic fluffy Greek pita or the signature East Med salad with organic wheat berries, plus homemade tzatziki and fresh green chilli salsa.
The larger fixed kitchen space also allows Gourmet Goat to add new seasonal specials to their menu such as Kid Goat Stifado, a traditional Greek stew prepared with sweet slow-cooked onions, Greek red wine vinegar reduction, cinnamon and bay, accompanied by giant couscous and grated anari (a Cypriot hard cheese made with the whey of halloumi); and Cypriot BBQ Sheftalia sausage wrapped in crepinette, paired with refreshing East Med piccalilli. Those keen to explore the delights of kid goat cooking in their own homes can also purchase fresh free-range kid goat meat from the store, supplied by British dairy farmers.
