New brands sign up for Friarsgate
Four new brands will join the development in Lichfield City.
U+I, the property regeneration specialist, announced that leading food chains Le Bistrot Pierre, Patisserie Valerie and Starbucks have all agreed leases on new units within the development, which will become an extension to the existing Three Spires Shopping centre.
Pizza Express, Zizzi and the Handmade Burger Company restaurants will also be coming to Friarsgate.
In total, Friarsgate is expected to bring between 8-10 food and drink establishments and approximately 20 shops, with 82 apartments and 11 townhouses to the city centre. The combination of leisure and retail opportunities is expected to increase the city’s shopping turnover from £55m to £107m by 2022 and is forecast to create 660 new full-time equivalent jobs for the area.
Richard Upton, Deputy CEO of U+I, commented: “U+I is committed to creating great places and the four new lettings complement the city centre’s existing offer and help to unlock Lichfield’s potential as a great destination for shopping and visiting. Seasalt, Le Bistrot Pierre, Patisserie Valerie and Starbucks are all great draws for visitors and I’m delighted to confirm we are close to signing up other big name high street brands shortly. It is an exciting time for Lichfield, and I am confident that our investment in Lichfield will generate new jobs and growth for the area, which has always been a key objective for the Friarsgate development.”
Cllr Mike Wilcox, Leader of Lichfield District Council, said: “We’re delighted by today’s announcement. It’s great news that even more top named brands are signing up to the Friarsgate scheme and want to bring their businesses to Lichfield City. We’re enjoying watching the development take shape, and when built, we are confident it will drive more footfall to our businesses, create more jobs for local people, and really help to boost the reputation of the Lichfield as a great place to shop, drink, visit and enjoy.”
The development will also enhance transport connectivity to Lichfield, delivering a new bus station near to the railway station, as well as 500 safe and accessible car parking spaces.
