Peyton and Byrne bakery to open on Great Portland Street
The bakery chain is set to open its fifth store this June on Great Portland Street.
From architects du jour LOT, the 1,000 sqft, 40 cover site has retained original features including its Victorian façade, the herringbone parquet floor, paired with a crafted herringbone slip brick counter display featuring greens, whites and smoky greys. Oak panelling sits against painted original brickwork; custom-made ceramic pendant lighting, commissioned by Turning Earth, illuminate the display of homemade products and integrated ‘grab and go’ bar. A mix of ash chairs and two Peyton and Byrne bespokely upholtered banquettes accommodate in store dining in addition to outdoor seating.
George Heron, alongside the owner Oliver Peyton, has curated a menu across the bakery group of traditional British fare, baked daily on site using authentic recipes and methods. The latest store will offer signature handmade cakes, biscuits, oven fresh pies and tarts, healthy breakfasts, lunchtime savouries, celebratory cakes and an extensive list of Peyton and Byrne’s own teas.
Open from 8am – 8pm, the Great Portland Street outlet will also launch a new range of Peyton and Byrne products, set to be available across the group, including classic seasonal products and new savoury items.
Oliver Peyton, owner of Peyton and Byrne said: “We are delighted to have expanded our list of bakeries to five and to launch our new product range at the Great Portland Street bakery. This bakery will be the perfect place to stock up for an impromptu picnic in Regent’s Park, whilst also catering to local office workers looking for a quality weekday lunch”.
