US fast casual chain Velvet Taco taps names new CEO
Under Schultz, the chain targets city and airport growth.
US fast casual chain Velvet Taco has appointed Chris Schultz as its new CEO.
Schultz will oversee the company’s growth in the US and abroad, focusing on operations, innovation, and customer experience.
He brings more than three decades of experience in the restaurant industry.
Schultz previously served as CEO of Voodoo Doughnut, where he led the brand’s expansion.
He also spent nine years as senior vice president of operations at MOD Pizza, helping grow the chain from one location to over 350 nationwide.
Earlier in his career, he spent 13 years with Starbucks, contributing to global expansion and operational development.
Velvet Taco currently operates more than 50 locations in eight states and recently opened its first international restaurant in London’s Broadgate Circle.
The menu includes over 20 globally inspired tacos and the Weekly Taco Feature (WTF) programme, which introduces a new limited-time taco every week.
The London location covers 2,500 square feet and is open seven days a week.
Under Schultz, the brand plans to expand further in major cities and explore non-traditional locations such as airports.
