McDonald's UK Chief Appointed CEO of Halfords
Jill McDonald to assume role on May 11.
Halfords, the automotive, cycling and leisure products retailer has hired Jill McDonald, the McDonald's UK CEO and President of its North West Division.
McDonald has been at the helm of McDonald's in the UK since 2010 where she has responsibility for around 3.300 restaurants across 7 countries, together with over 500 franchisees and 200,000 colleagues.
Although the move from food to automotive and leisure goods is a large one, Dennis Millard, Chairman of Halfords said "we were clear that we were looking for an outstanding business leader, particularly someone who had built and nurtured a culture of customer service and colleague engagement in a consumer facing business... Jill... has a strong track record of heading a large, complex, service-led business with great success".
No word on a likely successor for her yet, though we did report on the promotion of Paul Pomroy to Managing Director of McDonald's UK last month.
