Burger King denies its Impossible Whoppers were vegan: report

Its partner Impossible Foods said the plant-based burgers were not for vegans or vegetarians.

Burger King, in response to a US-based class action against its plant-based whoppers, said it never promised its Impossible Whoppers were vegan, Reuters has reported.

The burger giant told plaintiff Philip Williams in a court filing that he should have asked how the Impossible Whoppers were cooked before ordering.

In November, Williams, a vegan customer, has sought damages on behalf of all customers who were misled into buying the plant-based burgers, which were cooked alongside meat counterparts.

The report noted that alternative meat company Impossible Foods has said that the plant-based whoppers were not designed for vegans or vegetarians but for people who want to cut down their meat intake.
