Shake Shack announces tech overhaul to scale AI and digital capabilities

Shake Shack has announced Project Catalyst, a comprehensive technology initiative to scale its digital, data, and operational platforms as the company expands to 1,500 company-operated Restaurants.
The project modernises Shake Shack’s POS and Kitchen Display Systems through Qu’s cloud-native platform, enhancing order accuracy, kitchen throughput, and operational consistency across digital and in-store channels.
It also introduces Shake Shack’s first loyalty platform, designed to deepen guest engagement and drive repeat visits through personalised promotions and communications. Project Catalyst further expands AI capabilities to provide real-time operational insights, proactive alerts, and recommendations for operators, supporting faster, data-driven decision-making and enterprise productivity.
Underpinning these initiatives is a unified data and analytics platform that integrates operational and guest data, enabling improved service, personalised experiences, and scalable AI-driven efficiencies.
The initiative, spearheaded by Rob Lynch, CEO of Shake Shack, that Project Catalyst will build the right foundation to support the brand’s scale.
“These investments will help our teams operate more efficiently, enhance the guest experience, and position Shake Shack to scale successfully toward 1,500 Company-operated Shacks,” Lynch said.
