Solar, wind farms amongst McDonald's new renewable energy projects
The fast food giant attempts to prevent 700,000 metric tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.
McDonald’s in the US is on the move to create more renewable energy resources as part of its sustainability initiative.
The American fast food giant has invested in solar and wind farm projects, which will generate energy supply equal to 2,500 of their restaurants.
In part of its “Scale for Good” initiative, McDonald’s says its investment in renewable energy is an attempt to prevent 700,000 metric tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions, inching 16% closer to its climate action target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 36% from its McDonald’s restaurants and offices.
Moreover, the chain claimed that as of 2018, its restaurants in Europe and the UK are almost 100% renewable-energy dependent.
