Southern Fried Chicken to open in Kenya
The brand announced an agreement with Qatar Kenya Investment Co (QKIC) to launch the brand in Kenya.
FFS Brands, owners of the Southern Fried Chicken brand, signed up a new Master Franchise in Guadeloupe and Martinique.
Partner at QKIC Hamad Al Mansoori said, “We established Qatar Kenya investment Co. to leverage the great relationship between Qatar and Kenya, bridging opportunities between both countries and capitalizing on the growth Kenya is witnessing. We relish introducing new opportunities and have good relationships with the local business community in Kenya; our plans include investing in many sectors and one of these sectors is the food industry, so Southern Fried Chicken is a good fit for us.”
“Our aim is to set up 3 restaurants in Kenya over the next 2 years. QKIC have great aspirations for the brand and we are already exploring the opportunities for expanding the Southern Fried Chicken franchise into neighbouring countries and in other parts of the world.”
Chris Gibson, President of FFS Brands, said that the company sees Africa as fertile territory for development.
“Southern Fried Chicken already opened in two new countries in West Africa this year – in Senegal the first restaurant is due to come on stream shortly, with a second outlet in Daktar scheduled for the beginning of January. Now Kenya will create a springboard for us to develop East Africa, with Tanzania and Uganda amongst future targets.”
“We are delighted to welcome QKIC on board as important investors in the brand, Hamad is a businessman with great experience in setting up successful businesses across multiple sectors and we’re confident that his passion and vision for our brand will support us in establishing and growing Southern Fried Chicken in this important part of the world.”
