Former TGI Friday's backer is frontrunner to buy Casual Dining Group: report

A deal could be struck within days.

The operator behind the Cafe Rouge, Bella Italia and Las Iguanas chains is in detailed talks to be bought by a former backer of TGI Friday's.

Sky News reported that Epiris, whose current investments include the auction house Bonhams, has emerged as a leading contender to purchase Casual Dining Group (CDG) out of administration.

A deal had yet to be finalised but reportedly could be struck in the coming days.

Other bidders, such as hedge fund Elliott Advisers, are said to have also lodged an interest in buying CDG. The restaurant group fell into administration weeks ago due to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Epiris offered no comment when asked by QSR Media.
