Greggs posts 9.2% in like-for-like sales
The bakery chain now expects a higher full year profit than previously expected.
Greggs posted a 13.4% increase in total sales year-to-date and like-for-like sales up 9.2% on the back of increased customer visits and improved comparative sales.
In the six weeks ending 9 November, total sales rose by 12.4% whilst like-for-like sales were up 8.3%.
“Sales growth continues to be driven by increased customer visits and has been stronger than we had expected given the improving comparative sales pattern that we saw in the fourth quarter last year,” the company said in a statement.
The UK’s biggest bakery chain now sees a higher full year profit than it previously expected.
“Operational costs remain well controlled and, whilst the comparative sales become stronger still in the balance of the year, the Board now anticipates that full year underlying profit before tax (excluding exceptional charges) will be higher than our previous expectations.”

In a separate announcement, Greggs also unveiled its Christmas menu, featuring their signature Festive Bake and vegan Sweet Mince Pies.
New additions include the Christmas Novelty Biscuit (available from 14 November) and Christmas Shortbread Bites (available from 18 November).
