Bertinet Bakery bags awards at Delicious Produce Awards
Crowned the winner of the 'From the Earth' artisan category.
The Bertinet Bakery won at the Delicious produce awards 2016, launched this year to celebrate outstanding British produce.
The judges said the Bertinet loaf is: “Open and light with a really tangy flavour. Good texture and not too chewy, with a beautiful burnished crust.”
The 1.2kg sourdough loaf is made with the Richard Bertinet's starter, hand moulded and proved slowly in traditional linen lined baskets, before being baked caramel crusted. Each loaf takes about 18 hours from start to finish and the sourdoughs have a crumb, chewy crust and complex, tangy flavour.
