Beshoff Bros bags first Marine Stewardship Council certificate
The take away and restaurant group are the first fish and chip shops in Ireland to be awarded for its commitment to sourcing MSC certified sustainable fisheries.
Beshoff Bros. achieved certification for its cod, haddock, and hake.
General Manager Riaan Roets said, “Beshoff Bros. has always viewed sustainability as an important part of doing business. Not only does it ensure that we maintain a healthy marine environment but it also allows us to help do our part in safeguarding the oceans for future generations.”
“We are delighted that the MSC certified cod, haddock and hake we serve at all of our stores, can now be displayed on our menu with the MSC’s internationally recognised blue ecolabel,” Roets said.
“We are committed to ensuring the sustainability of the natural resources of the world’s oceans; this MSC accreditation and use of the ecolabel means we can now make our customers fully aware of our sustainable and traceable fish sourcing policy.”
Roets added, "We take great pride in using only MSC certified and sustainably wild caught fish in all of the restaurants and are also committed to being environmentally responsible, through the use recyclable packaging and reconstituting our waste oil into bio-diesel.
“All five of our stores are based in Dublin and attract a varied mix of customers from local residents, Irish visitors to the city or tourists looking for traditional high quality fish and chips.”
