McDonald's Germany launches first vegan burger

The new item has a patty made from soy and wheat.

McDonald's Germany announced the launch of a new vegan burger on its menu.

As reported by the Independent, the Big Vegan TS burger consists of a patty made from soy and wheat and is served in a classic sesame seed bun with salad, tomato, pickles and red onion.

This marks the first time the German franchise of the fast food chain has offered a vegan burger to its customers.

McDonald's Germany says the burger has a "meaty taste", despite containing no trace of animal by-products.
