Greggs to trial 24-hour drive-thru shops

It also announced that it will open 150 stores before the end of the year.

UK bakery chain Greggs will trial 24-hour drive-thru shops and extend the opening hours of 300 of its stores until 9PM.

Currently, some shops are open until 8PM.

Greggs is also planning a major expansion of 150 new stores before the end of the year.

Greggs reported that it hit £1.5b worth of sales, with like-for-like sales surging by 17.8% in 2022 compared to a year before. Pre-tax profit for 2022 was at  £148.3m compared to  £145.6m in 2021.

“Our strong financial performance is a result of committed efforts to deliver our strategic growth plan with an ambition to double sales and has significantly more than 3,000 shops across the UK,” Roisin Currie, Chief Executive of Greggs said.

The bakery chain giant also relocated 25 existing shops to better sites in 2022 and refurbished 86 existing shops.
