Marugame Udon to give away free breakfast for a year
All they have to do is keep their Tamagotchi alive for 28 days.
Those who were kids in the ‘90s will remember the Tamagotchi craze, which is a virtual pet kept in a handheld video game device that you take care of and it’s coming back with Marugame Udon’s launch in Waterloo.
In celebration of the opening of its newest kitchen and breakfast menu, Marugame Udon has partnered with Bandai, creators of the digital pet toy Tamagotchi, to launch a competition to win prizes including free breakfast for a year if guests can keep their Original Tamagotchi alive.
The first 100 Marugame Udon club card members who buy a breakfast item on Grand Opening Day, will be given one of the 100 special Marugame-issued Tamagotchi Original digital pet toys to keep alive in exchange for Marugame Udon club card prizes.
If a Tamagotchi (which is derived from the Japanese word Tamago meaning ‘egg’ and Uotchi meaning ‘watch’) survives one week, then the owner will be rewarded with a free breakfast item and those that can complete the difficult task and keep their pet alive for 28 days will win free breakfast for a year. The competition will run from Thursday 12th January until Sunday 12th February 2023.
After seven launches in London, Marugame Udon’s latest restaurant is located near the UK’s busiest railway station: Waterloo.
The 3110 sq. ft restaurant will be located inside Waterloo’s main station, a busy intersection for thousands of commuters every day. The site will feature 108 covers.
The launch of the Waterloo site will also be the first to introduce breakfast at Marugame Udon with a delicious range of Udon breakfast specials, sandos, and breakfast tempura. Featuring a Japanese twist on traditional breakfast dishes, Marugame Udon will serve up Benedict Udon and Florentine Udon from the kitchen, made up of Udon in a rich hollandaise sauce with a soft poached Onsen egg, with crispy streaky bacon making up the Benedict Udon and wilted spinach for the Florentine. The menu also includes Salmon and Rice bowls and Porridge to grab and go for those in a rush.
