Pret A Manger reopens 200 UK shops
The move brings the total number of reopened shops to over 300.
Pret A Manger reopened a further 204 shops for takeaway and delivery on 1 June, the company said in an announcement.
Shops reopened for the first time in towns and cities such as Bath, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Exeter and Liverpool. This brings the total number of reopened shops to over 300, following the temporary closure of all shops in March due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Pret has also expanded its delivery operation, with delivery available through Deliveroo, Just Eat and UberEats, dependent on the shop’s location.
As part of the phased reopening, the company introduced several new safety measures that include protective Perspex screens fitted to the till counter, restricted customer flow into shops, social distancing restrictions in kitchens and enhanced cleaning processes.
“We’re rapidly transforming our business in light of the pandemic and the dramatic drop in city centre footfall. The changes we’ve been making include new ways to serve customers and bring Pret’s products to our customers’ homes safely,” Pret A Manger CEO Pano Christou said.
To welcome customers back into their shops, the chain launches a promotion that gives persons the opportunity to purchase a card entitling them to 20 of Pret’s organic coffees for £20.
For sale throughout June in Pret shops nationwide, the card is redeemable until 20 July 2020.
