Accommodation, food services sector is hardest hit by COVID-19: PwC

Almost a third of workers are at risk of redundancy.

The accommodation and food services sector is the hardest hit segment by COVID-19-related closures, according to new data from PwC.

Specifically, the firm said the sector - which includes persons working at hotels and restaurants - is now only 8% in May of the size it was in February output-wise.

The sector also has the largest proportion of its workers on furlough, at 73%, with 32% of workers within the sector also at risk of redundancy.
