Consumers to quickly return to restaurants once lockdown ends: surveys
A small percentage prefers not to eat out at all.
Consumers are expected to eat out within the first few months of restaurants, pubs and cafes reopening, according to separate surveys.
Data from QikServe and Eagle Eye Solutions revealed that 67% of its respondents would eat out within a month of restaurants and cafés reopening and 58% saying that they are looking forward to visiting a restaurant or pub once lockdown ends.
40%, meanwhile want access to digital ordering and payment technology to minimise physical contact whilst another 40% of consumers will not eat at their favourite restaurants if prices are raised post-lockdown.
“Our research gives the hospitality industry plenty to cheer about: people are keen to go back to their favourite bars and restaurants. They are ready and willing to eat out, with the caveat that brands pay attention to their safety,” QikServe president and founder Daniel Rodgers said.
A Truly Experiences survey, meanwhile, said that 3 in 10 Brits or 30% are looking to dine out immediately after lockdown, with Generation Z and Millennials the most likely to visit restaurants and bars when they reopen.
33% of Brits said they plan on visiting a restaurant or pub in the next few months, and 14% think they will be eating out in a few weeks. This is in comparison to 12% who claim that they will only eat outside next year and 4% of respondents saying they do not plan on dining out after the lockdown “at all.”
A third of Brits aged 45 and older said they do not expect to eat out until next year whilst 20% of Brits expect higher prices at restaurants.
