One in 6 Britons forced to pick cheaper food alternatives
Less than 20% forced to shift to affordable staple food items.
Since there is rising inflation, YouGov said UK residents are forced to switch to cheaper staple food items, which 16% said they had to.
A similar number said they had to downgrade their toiletries and household essentials (15% in both cases), whilst 13% have to choose cheaper alternatives for non-essential food spending.
About one in six of Britons were forced to eat out or get takeaways (14%) less frequently than before the cost of living crisis.
More than 2,200 adults from 13 to 16 September 2022 were polled in the YouGov survey.
