
Pizza, burgers, sugary treats are most searched fast food items during lockdown: study
McDonald’s is the most-missed food in a majority of places.
Pizza, burgers and sugary treats top the list of foods Brits miss the most, according to a study from Fresh Student Living.
Analysing daily search demand on Google Trends for each brand listed on YouGov’s website between 23 March and 23 June, they discovered that more people searching for PizzaExpress, Burger King and Krispy Kreme than any other UK fast food chain during lockdown.
This is followed by Pizza Hut, Subway, Nando’s and Domino’s. Starbucks, Papa John’s and Greggs make up the rest of the top ten searches.
Across the country, McDonald’s is determined as the most-missed food in places like London, Belfast and Cardiff. Per Google searches, customers are looking for Big Macs, McMuffins, Happy Meals and McNuggets.
Greggs, KFC and Wagamama are also listed as the top three brands in terms of recipe searches for Brits who wanted to recreate dishes at home.
