Deliveroo launches ‘Restaurant Rescue Team' initiative
The programme will launch in London and then expand to other parts of the UK.
Deliveroo announced that it has set up a new team within its HQ focused on identifying restaurants in need of support to offer them a place in a local Editions delivery-only kitchen.
The company’s new ‘Restaurant Rescue Team’ will look for restaurants that are at risk of closing, or who have closed down, who would be able to continue trading with support from the Deliveroo Editions kitchens.
Deliveroo says the Rescue Team will use its “local knowledge and market insights” to identify restaurants who they think will perform well in an area where an Editions site is based, and assist in branding, menu development and pricing strategies.
For a limited period, restaurants who enter Editions through the Rescue Team will also receive preferential commission rates, with Deliveroo covering the costs of rent, equipment, maintenance, utilities, food safety setup and audit costs.
Deliveroo says it will focus its efforts initially in London and then expand to other areas of the UK.
