Greggs trials new home delivery service with UberEATS
The service launched in Newcastle on 2 October, and is available exclusively on the app.
Delivery will be available within a mile of participating Greggs shops and will cost £2.50 per order with no minimum spend required.
The Greggs’ menu on UberEATS will feature a selection of breakfast, hot and cold drinks, bakes and sausage rolls, freshly-prepared sandwiches, salads, and sweet treats.
There are no immediate plans to expand the trial beyond Newcastle, but if successful, Greggs will consider rolling the service out to other locations.
Greggs chief executive Roger Whiteside said, “When it comes to food-on-the-go, our customers tell us that convenience is key. We’ve been working hard to take Greggs to where our customers need and want us to be including office parks, industrial estates, retail parks and travel hubs. More recently, we have also launched our office delivery service (from selected stores) and opened our first Drive Thru.”
“Online ordering and delivery is something that we are often asked about and we are excited to confirm that we have launched a trial of this new concept to customers in our home city of Newcastle upon Tyne. This latest innovation will enable customers to enjoy our great tasting, good value food wherever they are, offering them the ultimate convenience,” he added.
UberEATS’ general manager Mathieu Proust said, “We’re thrilled to be working with Greggs to offer home delivery of their food for the first time in the UK. With our UberEATS app anyone can order the food they want with the speed and reliability they’ve come to expect from Uber.”
