Sainsbury's pizzas now available on Deliveroo

The supermarket group wants a slice of the £8 billion food delivery market.

Sainsbury has now teamed up with Deliveroo to offer its pizzas through the delivery platform.

The group claims it is the first British supermarket to offer hot takeaways via the delivery app after launching a two-month trial in Cambridge; Selly Oak in Birmingham; West Hove in Sussex; and Pimlico and Hornsey, both in London.

This comes after Deliveroo attracted a US$500 million investment from Amazon, which is currently being scrutinised by the country’s competition watchdog.

The regulator also thwarted Sainsbury’s attempt to buy rival Asda in April.
