Gourmet Goat unveils special dish for #CookForSyria campaign
The streetfood trader will serve slow-cooked peas with rose veal as part of the #CookForSyria campaign.
Available throughout November at their streetfood unit inside Borough Market, £2 from every order of this dish will be donated to UNICEF’s Syria Relief fund via Next Generation London (UNICEF’s youth branch).
Consistent with the team’s commitment to using sustainable local ingredients, the dish features British rose veal and slow-cooked nutty English-grown carlin peas from Hodmedod’s (instead of the traditional black-eyed peas). Topped with celery leaves and lemon zest, this hearty dish is served with the trader’s side salad combining spinach, beetroot, goats curd, double-roasted chickpeas, tahini and pomegranate molasses.
Gourmet Goat’s co-founder Nadia Stokes said: “The haunting images of the Syrian refugees aren't strangers. They are ghosts of my past and reminders of the same tragedy my family endured. Contributing to UNICEF by taking part in #CookForSyria allows us to give back the help and hope that my family once received.”
