Caravan Coffee Roasters announces new coffee from all-female cooperative
The new coffee released in time for International Women’s Day.
Caravan Coffee Roasters has unveiled a new type of coffee that was produced from an all-female cooperative, the Igualdad Mujeres Hombres (Parity Women Male) that aims to achieve equality for women in rural Colombia.
“At Caravan Coffee Roasters we are proud to champion women working throughout the coffee industry, at all levels of the supply chain, from farm to cup,” Caravan said.
The group aims to help female coffee producers in Colombia by giving them leadership opportunities to overcome social and cultural barriers in their work. This is done through networking, education, and workshops designed to continually improve all aspects of coffee production and processing - using the premiums of speciality coffee to achieve a fairer social dynamic in their communities.
“We are proud to support women's cooperatives like these in their mission to above all achieve equality, but also showcase an excellent lot of coffee. In your cup, expect to find notes of milk chocolate, hazelnut and green apple,” Caravan said.
