First UK Chick-fil-A to close in six months following backlash
LGBT groups are expected to continue protests until the store closes.
Days after opening, the first UK branch of Chick-fil-A is set to close following a backlash over its owner's stance on LGBT rights.
The American restaurant chain opened its first branch in Reading last 10 October, but was quickly met with criticism from LGBT groups.
The Oracle shopping center subsequently announced that it would not extend Chick-fil-A's initial six-month lease.
“We always look to introduce new concepts for our customers, however, we have decided on this occasion that the right thing to do is to only allow Chick-fil-A to trade with us for the initial six-month pilot period, and not to extend the lease any further,” the shopping mall said.
