Just Eat sponsors bike hire scheme in Edinburgh
Transport for Edinburgh says that this will attract a broad range of residents, visitors, commuters and students.
Just Eat has announced that they will be sponsoring the cycle hire scheme by the Transport for Edinburgh (TfE) and Serco.
Launching on September 17, the first batch of 200 bikes will have the logo of the food delivery company on it. They plan to have a total of 1,000 bikes by the end of the year.
“We’re thrilled to be the new sponsor of Edinburgh’s new cycle hire scheme, which will be a great new way for residents and visitors to get around the city,” Ben Carter, Just Eat UK managing director, said.
Meanwhile, TfE chief executive George Lowder believes that the sponsorship will have an impact to the city.
“Just Eat’s support over the next three years will be invaluable to enable the Edinburgh Cycle Hire Scheme to be developed in line with our vision for a far-reaching scheme that will attract a broad range of residents, visitors, commuters and students to cycling. This will include eBikes and other initiatives,” Lowder said.
The Edinburgh bike hire scheme is formed from a concession agreement between TfE and Serco, providing both manual and electric bikes for hire. The scheme will run for three years and may extend for another four years if proven successful.
Last July 2017, Just Eat also became the commercial sponsor of the Dublin Bikes rental scheme.
