Greggs’ pre-tax profit down by 14.3% in H1
Earnings per share came in at 45.3 pence.
Greggs’ profit before tax decreased by 14.3% to £63.5m in the first half of 2025.
Operating profit was also down by 7.1% to £70.4m.
The drop in both pre-tax and operating profits was attributed to weaker footfall, higher costs early in the year, and weather disruptions.
The company reported a 7% rise in total sales to £1.03b for the first half of 2025.
Like-for-like sales at company-managed shops also grew by 2.6%, whilst franchise shop sales rose by 4.8%.
The chain opened 87 new outlets and closed 56 during the period (including 27 relocations), resulting in 31 net openings.
As of June, Greggs operated 2,649 locations.
Despite early-year pressures, the company said it remains on track to add 140 to 150 new shops in 2025, with most expected in the second half of the year.
Earnings per share came in at 45.3 pence.
