Greggs removes self-service fridges in some stores

Sandwiches are now behind the counter.

Greggs has removed self-service fridges and is placing sandwiches behind the counter as part of a new trial.

The bakery chain said in a statement that this initiative is being trialled across a handful of shops which are ‘exposed to higher levels of anti-social behaviour’.

The bakery chain has over 2,600 shops in the UK.

In its latest trading update, the group’s total sales were up by 7.4% to £784m for the 20 weeks ending 17 May.
