MSC sets up certification 'help desk' for Fish Frying & Fast Food Show
The Marine Stewardship Council will be offering visitors a full advice service at their ‘help desk’ at the event, including information on the certification process, examples of marketing materials used to promote certification, as well as the opportunity to complete certification applications there and then.
Commercial and communications staff from the MSC will be on hand to answer questions and advise on a full range of MSC seafood sustainability topics. They will be promoting methods for gaining and introducing certification to a shop or restaurant, and how to subsequently make the most out of using the blue ecolabel to promote the sustainability of the business.
MSC staff will also be able to demo the new online certification process as well as running through training programmes for site staff to ensure that the independently verified and traceable seafood sustainability programme is easy to translate and simple to use.
Those who have gained MSC certification are licensed to serve certified sustainable seafood to their customers, by sourcing fish from certified fish suppliers, which is then identified by the MSC’s blue ecolabel on menus. As all MSC fish is independently checked and certified, businesses and customers know that the fish they enjoy with the blue label is genuinely from an MSC sustainable fishery.
The MSC stand will also have information on the latest MSC certified fisheries and certified fish species and those MSC certified suppliers which can supply them. There are a number of MSC certified suppliers to the fish, chip and fast food industry who will be taking stands at the show this year.
George Clark, UK Commercial Manager at MSC said: "It’s a great pleasure once more to attend the Fish Frying and Fast Food show. This year we’re very excited to be holding a stand opposite the NFFF. Our new partnership is proving really successful and we’re hoping that anyone wanted to find out more about getting MSC certified will get all the answers they need at our ‘help desk’!”
