Thousands sign petition to keep first UK Chick-fil-A open
Another petition was also sent to Parliament, but was eventually rejected.
A petition to keep the UK's first branch of American restaurant Chick-Fil-A open has been signed by over 20,000 people, as pro-LGBT campaigners launch a rival petition against a second branch in Scotland.
CitizenGo launched the online petition on 22 October, calling for the Reading branch to remain open after the decision was made not to renew the restaurant's lease following a number of demonstrations.
The petition called the closure an ‘attack on religious freedom’.
A separate petition was sent to the UK Parliament’s website on the same day, but was eventually rejected, citing that the UK Government or Parliament “is not responsible for” the matter.
