IN FOCUS: Tossed Talk About Their Plans for 2015 and Why They've Just Relaunched their Website
As Tossed, the salad bar chain, get set to celebrate their tenth year of operations, they have begun to expand from their traditional footprint into non traditional sites, and have also just re-launched their website to much acclaim.
We sat down with the chain to learn more about the business, and what makes their new website so special.
QSR: You offer a lot of customisation in your product offering- do you find that customers take this up or do they tend to order from your standard salad suggestions?
A huge appeal that attracts our guests is that they can create their own meal just the way they like it. There's no such thing as being too fussy when you visit tossed. Our house recipes are also very popular too. Our food team take great care in creating delicious and nutritionally balanced recipes. Nothing makes it on the menu unless rigorous taste tastes have been undertaken (a great perk of the job)!
QSR: What are your most popular menu items?
Our best sellers are our create your own options, followed closely by the green dream smoothie, super kale juice, avocado breakfast bagel, chipotle house salad, chicken pesto toasted wrap, chicken mozerella and avocado grab and go salad and the malaysian chicken soup!
QSR: We’re seeing a large growth in the healthy fast food space. What are your plans for store openings this year?
This year we have already opened 2 more tossed stores located in Welcome Break services. We are due to open another store with Welcome Break and have our first international store which will be opening in Dubai in the next few months!
QSR: 2015 marks your tenth year of operations. What plans do you have to celebrate?
The entire tossed family, there's almost 200 of us now, are having a big party to celebrate!
QSR: The Tossed website has recently undergone a huge revamp. What was the rationale for the change?
Our 10th birthday is happening in April this year and as a result our old site was rather out-dated. It was also not very mobile friendly which is certainly how our demographic tends to view our site these days!
QSR: What did you want to achieve with the new site?
The look and feel of our brand has grown up slightly since we first opened our doors in 2005. Yes, we still like to maintain a light-hearted feel, however our main focus is now being spent on our nutritional integrity and working towards established a reputation as being the number 1 healthier eating place.
QSR: What sets the website apart from its competition?
Firstly, it looks great! One of the best features of our new site the interactive nutritional calculator which allows guests to easily monitor what it is they are eating by seeing a clear breakdown of the nutritional information for all our food and drink items. We also have a blog which features posts from a nutritionist’s perspective, recipes and fitness new stories. This is added to on a weekly to ensure we keep engagement high.
QSR: The new website has also been nominated for an award. Can you tell us about it?
We are delighted to receive an Honourable Mention from the Awwwards competition! The Awwwards recognize the talent and effort of the best web designers, developers and agencies in the world. We are delighted with the hard work VerbBrands put in to create a site we are proud of. This is an extremely exciting time for Tossed, we are soon to open our first overseas store in Dubai, and believe our new website is representative of where we are heading.
