Gourmet sausage brand X-Upper to open in Islington

The upcoming site will open on March 1.

A new restaurant is looking to bring gourmet sausages to Islington's Upper Street.

The team behind X-Upper claimed to have trialled 513 different sausages across 14 cities in Europe to find the six best and highest quality sausages to put on the menu.

The offerings include the Olma Bratwurst, a protected Swiss bratwurst that's served with a purple mustard, pickled cabbage, and milk and honey sourdough; the Italian Romagna, an Italian chicken & pork sausage with a herby, tangy green sauce and a hot yellow pepper salsa and the English Cumberland, Cumberland sausages with a beetroot ketchup, horseradish mayonnaise, fresh dill and a sprinkle lemon zest.

There will also be daily specials, including their Austrian Käsekrainer and a smoky Polish Kielbasa. All of the sausages cost between £8 and £12. 

In charge of creating the recipes for the sausages are James Tanner, from Tanner's in Plymouth alongside Francesco di Marzio, who was Executive Chef at The Greenhouse and also a finalist of the San Pellegrino Young Chef Competition.

X-Upper will open its doors on 88 Upper Street, London on March 1.
